With player options for multiple players, the Heat could have as many as 11 players entering free agency this offseason.
Before going in-depth on the Miami Heat upcoming free agents, let’s first look at their cap sheet.
Including the player they draft with the 15th pick, the Heat will have 8 players on guaranteed deals next season. The Heat could have as many as 11 players entering free agency this offseason. Before reviewing each of the free agents for the Heat, let’s spend a little bit of time discussing Orlando Robinson, who is on a non-guaranteed contract.
The Heat have until July 15 to waive Robinson, if not, his contract will guarantee for $2.1 million next season.
The Heat could have access to the $5.1 million tax mid-level exception this offseason, but that access will depend on if they bring back their free agents and which players with player options return to the team.
Now let’s look at the Heat free agents.
Caleb Martin 6’5” - Unrestricted Free Agent
64 games played (78% of season), 27.4 minutes
Position - Forward. Martin played 50% of his minutes at the 3 and 40% of his minutes at the 4, per CleaningTheGlass.com.
Free agent status - Martin is expected to decline his player option and become an unrestricted free agent.
NBA Experience - Martin will be 29 when next season begins, with 5 years of NBA experience.
Kevin Love 6’8” - Unrestricted Free Agent
55 games played (67% of season), 16.8 minutes
Position - Big. Love played 74% of his minutes at the 5 and 26% of his minutes at the 4, per CleaningTheGlass.com.
Free agent status - Love will become an unrestricted free agent, but he and the Heat plan on negotiating a new deal.
NBA Experience - Love will be 36 next season, with 16 years of NBA experience.
Latest Rumors - Following the ending of the Heat season, Love was asked whether he intends to keep playing basketball or if he’s looking to retire, and at that time, he said he’d like to keep playing.
Thomas Bryant 6’10” - Unrestricted Free Agent

Free agent status - Bryant will be an unrestricted free agent.
NBA Experience - Bryant will be 27 when next season begins, with 7 years of NBA experience.
Haywood Highsmith 6’5” - Unrestricted Free Agent
66 games played (80% of season), 20.7 minutes
Position - Wing. Highsmith played 63% of his minutes at the 3, 23% of his minutes at the 4, and 14% of his minutes at the 2, per CleaningTheGlass.com.
Free agent status - Highsmith will be an unrestricted free agent with a $2.3 million cap hold on the Heat cap sheet, with full bird rights.
NBA Experience - Highsmith will be 27 when next season begins, with 4 years of NBA experience.
Latest Rumors - Highsmith has said he would love to return to Miami, but he’s going to have a lot of interest from other teams, and with the Heat being a tax team after acquiring Terry Rozier during the season, they may not be willing to re-sign Highsmith despite having his bird rights.
Patty Mills 6’2” - Unrestricted Free Agent

Free agent status - Mills will be an unrestricted free agent with a $2 million cap hold and non-bird rights on the Heat cap sheet.
NBA Experience - Mills will be 36 when next season begins, with 15 years of NBA experience.
Delon Wright 6’5” - Unrestricted Free Agent

Free agent status - Wright will be an unrestricted free agent with a $2 million cap hold and non-bird rights on Miami’s books.
NBA Experience - Wright will be 32 when next season begins, with 9 years of NBA experience.
The Two-Way Free Agents - Jamal Cain, Cole Swider, Alondes Williams
Swider and Williams will be restricted free agents. Cain will be an unrestricted free agent.
Cain is a 6’6” forward who played in 26 games with the Heat last season, averaging 10 minutes and making 35.5% of his 1.2 three point attempts. Swider is a 6’8” forward who played in 18 games with Miami and averaged 4.8 minutes per game. Williams is a 6’4” guard who played in just 7 games with the Heat.
