Philadelphia 76ers 2024 Free Agents
With a lot of cap space and over 10 players going into free agency, the Philadelphia 76ers will be figuring out how to reconstruct their roster around Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey this offseason.
Before going in-depth on the Philadelphia 76ers’ upcoming free agents, let’s first look at their cap sheet.
The Sixers have just 2 players on guaranteed contracts entering the offseason in Joel Embiid and whoever they draft with the 16th pick in the draft.
That means 12 Sixers players will be free agents this summer, and that number could go up to 15 players depending on decisions Philly makes with Paul Reed, Jeff Dowtin Jr., and Ricky Council IV.
Reed is on a non-guaranteed contract that doesn’t fully guarantee until January 10, 2025. This means the Sixers can evaluate how their first few days of free agency are going before deciding whether they need to waive Reed to open more cap space, or not.
The Sixers have until June 29 to exercise Dowtin Jr.’s team option for $2.1 million. Even if the option is exercised, the contract doesn’t fully guarantee until January 10, 2025.
Similar to Reed, the Sixers have until January 10, 2025 to allow Council IV’s $1.8 million contract to fully guarantee.
If the Sixers were to waive all players on non-guaranteed deals and renounce all their free agents EXCEPT Tyrese Maxey, Philly can open up to $62 million in cap space.
