Spurs Waive Jamaree Bouyea
By waiving Jamaree Bouyea, the San Antonio Spurs will now have one open two-way roster spot.
With training camp now two weeks away, the San Antonio Spurs appear to be making a roster change before the upcoming season arrives.
Sunday morning, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported the Spurs will be waiving two-way guard Jamaree Bouyea. The Spurs officially waived Bouyea a few hours later.
Bouyea played in 3 games with the team last season, where he averaged 3.7 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist per game. He spent most of his time with Austin in the G-League, and this past summer, he was one of the go-to players on the Spurs’ Summer League team.
With the Spurs signing Chris Paul in the offseason, Bouyea had a tough path ahead to try to earn a role for himself with San Antonio. With Paul likely starting, Tre Jones will now become the backup point guard, and the team still has Blake Wesley on the roster, plus camp invite Malachi Flynn as well.
Let’s go through two questions after this latest news about Bouyea:
Where does the roster stand now?
Who are some players to watch for the open two-way roster spot? (Paywall)
Where does the roster stand now?
With Bouyea waived, the Spurs will have 20 players on the roster. 15 players are on guaranteed standard contracts, two players are on two-way contracts, and three players are on training camp deals.
This leaves the one open two-way roster spot available.
